Materials or assemblies that are well tolerated by living beings and have no negative effect on the body are referred to as biocompatible. The term biomedical compatibility is also commonly used in this context. The material titanium exhibits a high level of biomedical compatibility. The biocompatible material is therefore frequently used for medical technology applications: for bone plates in orthopedics, dental implants or sensitive medical devices.
